The Tour

What to Expect

Deep into Iceland's interior and the highlands of the north — crossing the isolated wilderness that most visitors never reach.

Across Iceland is our newest route and our most focused. Eight days. No detours, no padding. We drive straight into the volcanic interior on the Sprengisandsleið — one of Iceland's roughest and most remote highland roads — then emerge in the north at Lake Mývatn before looping back south through the glacial highlands.

This tour is ideal if you want the genuine Iceland experience without committing to 13 days. The riding is demanding and the scenery is extraordinary. A KTM 390 Adventure R rental is included — no need to arrange shipping from home.

Day by Day

The Itinerary

Day01
Arrival — Welcome to Iceland
Meet your fellow riders in Reykjavík and get the bikes ready. Welcome briefing and route overview, then out for our first dinner and drinks together to kick off the adventure.

Day02
Into the Highlands — Sprengisandsleið
We leave Reykjavík early and ride straight for the remote Sprengisandsleið — one of Iceland's roughest interior roads. After fuelling at Hrauneyjar, we press north into pure wilderness, finishing the day in an isolated hut surrounded by highland silence.

Day03
Northbound — Lake Mývatn
We continue across barren highlands to Aldeyjarfoss — one of Iceland's most stunning waterfalls, basalt columns dropping into glacial melt. From there, an easy ride to Lake Mývatn where we stay two nights. Evening: the famous Mývatn Nature Baths and what many say is the best fish & chips in Iceland.

Day04
Rest Day — Húsavík or Ride Solo
A deliberate stop. Book a whale watching trip in Húsavík, soak in Mývatn's hot springs, or take one of our suggested solo day routes. This rest is built in because the tour isn't about covering distance — it's about actually being somewhere.

Day05
Back Into the Highlands — Hot Springs
We leave civilisation behind and ride deep into the highlands again, arriving at a remote hut far from road signs or shops. Dinner is quick — we're jumping straight into a natural hot spring under the open sky.

Day06
Between the Glaciers
Today we ride between two massive glaciers in near silence. The scale is hard to describe until you're in it. Another hidden hot spring waits near tonight's hut — warm soak, cold drink, long day done.

Day07
Return South — Glacier Views & Gullfoss
Our last full riding day. We swing south, passing glaciers and visiting Gullfoss on the way to our final hut. The terrain eases — enough to take in the views and reflect on how far we've come.

Day08
Final Ride — Geysir & Back to Reykjavík
The last stretch back to Reykjavík, stopping at Geysir one final time. Tonight we celebrate with a proper farewell dinner in the city.

Before You Book

Need to Know

Riding Level Required
Some off-road experience required. Confidence on loose surfaces and a willingness to tackle river crossings. Not a beginner tour — but less demanding than Iceland Unleashed.
Bike Options
KTM 390 Adventure R rental is included in the tour price. Want to bring your own? We can arrange shipping from UK, European, and North American ports — just let us know at booking.
Insurance
Comprehensive travel and riding insurance is mandatory. It must cover off-road riding, remote rescue, and medical evacuation. We can recommend providers if needed.
Weather
Iceland in August is the best window, but pack for everything. We've ridden in sun, horizontal rain, and sleet on the same day. Waterproof gear is non-negotiable.
Group Dynamics
Maximum 6 riders. We ride at the group's pace, cook together, and look after each other in remote areas. There are no restaurants or shops out there — just us and the wild.
Deposit & Payment
£500 deposit to secure your place. Balance due 10 weeks before departure. Payments via bank transfer. Full cancellation policy in our T&Cs.
Common Questions

Frequently Asked

If you're a confident rider with some off-road experience, you'll be fine. The adventure requires basic off-road handling skills but isn't extreme. If you're unsure, just get in touch — we're happy to have an honest conversation about whether this tour suits your level.
Yes. We have shipping arrangements from UK (Immingham), European ports (Rotterdam, Fredrikstad, Aarhus, Bremerhaven, Helsingborg), and North American ports (Portland, Maine or Halifax, Canada). Budget around £400–600 each way. Let us know at booking.
It happens, and we prepare for it. We brief every crossing beforehand, position ourselves to assist, and carry basic recovery kit. You'll need travel insurance that covers riding damage — we'll tell you exactly what to look for.
Completely fine. About half our riders come solo. The group dynamic works well — you're sharing something intense from day one, and people bond quickly.
No — it's usually cheaper and easier to book your own flights. Just don't book your return for the last morning of the tour.
Absolutely — and we'd encourage it. Reykjavík is worth a few days before or after. If you want to ride independently, we can give you route suggestions and contacts.
Beyond the tour package: flights, any extra accommodation, fuel for the bike, alcoholic drinks (budget £100–150), optional activities like whale watching or geothermal baths, and parking fees at tourist sites (around 700 ISK per stop). No surprises.
